Ami Dooglu in a checked jacket, standing in a field at dusk

Hi Ami Dooglu!

I explain the tech, bio and health breakthroughs changing how we live, in plain English.

Ami is “I” and Dooglu is my nickname. How cute!

Indian Bengali kids are never called by their formal names by their families. In my case, that is Akash Bhattacharjee.

Call me either Dooglu or Akash, I don’t mind. But yeah, that’s my heritage, born Indian. I speak fluent Bengali, Hindi (slightly out of practice), and English.

I’m also a British national, having lived in the UK for nearly two decades, mostly in and around London.

The bit that I don’t want you to remember about me…

I hold a Master’s (Distinction) in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry (First Class Honours), both from Imperial College London, where I was a President’s Scholar. I also won the Grand Prize at iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine), which is the world’s largest synthetic biology research competition, representing Imperial.

After graduating, I wanted to put my degrees to work, and human health was the most direct way to do that. I’ve since built my career as a biopharma intelligence consultant. I’ve led projects for Roche, Genentech, MSD, BMS, AstraZeneca, AbbVie, Gilead/Kite and Amgen, among others.

Shall I carry on? Yeah? Okay.

Here’s what I do want you to remember.

AI is changing how biology research gets done and how we look after our health, and fast.

I find myself in awe of that opportunity. I want to work out where I fit in. And, I want to find and connect with other people who feel the same.

If that’s you, write to me personally at akashandthat@gmail.com. I, too, will respond personally.

I try to make sense of the latest news. My background means I can read both the science and the business side, so you’ll often find simplified explainers accompanying my videos. And, you’ll find them across:

Let’s connect. More to follow.
